Abstract

This study aimed to characterize body measurements (BM), body indices (BD) and their relationship with body weight (BW) to reach equations for predicting body weight of crossed Boer without the need to use weighing devices. Fourty crossed does Boer × Damascus goats (1.5- 2.0 years) were used to explain the eight BM and twelve BD. Coefficient of correlations (r) were  highly significant between BW and some BM like rump height, chest girth, withers height, chest depth  and body length  and significant between BW with  rump width  and cannon circumference   ,while the lowest value of significant  recorded for shoulder width  .The results showed that the highest R2 values were found in regression of BW with RH (87.1%) followed by BW with RH plus CG ( 92.71%). When conformation index (CI) was combined with thoracic development (TD), TD and height index (HI). Linear regression (R2) reached to 90.5% and 92.4%, respectively. This study revealed that the RH is the best prediction for estimated of BW from BM in crossed doe’s Boer × Damascus goats.
